Every once in a while I get the inspiration to try new things. Actually, that is putting it lightly, pretty much every week I am inspired to do something that I’ve never done before. Dating a filmmaker has definitely sparked my drive to learn new things. Ian and I are starting to work on a few wedding videos together and I am so excited about our results.
We are working on the wedding video for Colleen and Josh, whose rehearsal dinner video you see below. The wedding video is fantastic! I can’t wait to show you! For now you will just have to wait and take a look at their rehearsal dinner video that we photographed in Key Largo, FL.
Ian is the mastermind behind this video, but a few of my shots made it in too!
This weekend I am excited to be going to a workshop hosted by Cinematic Bride in Louisiana where I get to learn the ins and outs of making a video. This sure beats the two film classes that I took in college 6 years ago.
The rest of Colleen and Josh’s wedding is coming to this blog soon. Video and Photos!

I met Karie at Malisa and Brian’s wedding back in August. She made the super amazing veil and hairpieces that Malisa wore on her wedding day. You can find Karie’s gorgeous hairpieces here: Karie Sue Creations
Karie shares a few words about herself and her business:
“Spending the last three years in HR, I worked to help fit people in the jobs that they were made for. One way to discover this was to ask, “What game did you play as a kid.” It is a way to find out what a person most enjoyed. When I was a little girl I had several games but the one I played most was “design.” I designed doll homes, dresses, accessories, anything and from anything. As I got older I knew I had to do something that would earn a paycheck, and being a girl who enjoyed so many games… It wasn’t too hard too do. The problem was that the thing I loved most was only an afterthought in my demanding weeks.
One night, I invited a friend over to knit together. I called my friend to ask what she thought of switching from knitting to making feather hair pins. Being the open-minded person that she is, she agreed, but kept her knitting in tow. That night I made about 10 beautiful hair pieces and my friend asked to wear one to work the next day. They were a hit, many people started asking me about them. Two months later, I left my job to continue making them, as well as jewelry and wedding veils.
I named my company KarieSue Creations, KarieSue because it’s a nickname my younger brothers and sister call me. And my tag line is “Socially Responsible Art.” In everything I do, I ask “Where does this come from?” and with everything I sell, I ask, “Who can also benefit?” Most everything I have comes from recycled materials and every month I have a featured charity who will receive a portion of the proceeds of that month. I love seeing people get so excited over my creations and I love to support so many great causes, here and abroad with my creativity. I am the most fulfilled person I have ever been.”
Karie is giving away this beautiful barrette to one lucky commenter. In order to win, leave a comment on the post below answering this question: ” Who can benefit from your life, what can you do to make a difference in someone’s life today?”
Comments must be received by Monday, September 14th at 9 am in order to win. The winner will be chosen at random, by the random number generator.
Go check out Karie’s blog and leave her some wonderful comments.
