Stefanie and I met 2 1/2 years ago at Zach’s One Light Workshop and hit it off. She started assisting me on weddings that summer and became my go to girl as far as assistants go. Now she photographs small local weddings occasionally through HA! Photography while in school for her nursing degree.
When she asked me to do family portraits for her I was like “heck yes!”  She has the most beautiful family:

On another note, I have been super busy photographing weddings and meeting with clients (yay 2010 weddings!). I will be posting way too much in the next couple of months, so get ready for the regular 3-4 times a week postings coming up shortly here.

The travel bug has officially hit! I have several trips planned this fall and one or two more in the works. In the next few weeks I will be traveling to:

Amelia Island, FL

Washington D.C.

It has been such a blessing working with Heather Ahrens.  And not just because she inspires me and lights up my life, but because I have also been able to meet so many wonderful people as a result.  She has an incredible group of friends and like her, they have all made an impression on me.  One of Heather’s greatest friends of all time, Katie Brown got engaged last year and knew she wanted HA Photography to document the day.  You may remember Katie and Aaron’s Engagement Session from an earlier blog post. So imagine my excitement when I found out that I would have the honor of photographing the wedding of one of Heather’s best friends!  Even better, our fabulous assistant April Yohe, is a long-time friend of Katie’s family as well.  Katie’s mother, such a genuine and loving person, was April’s Sunday School teacher!  I immediately felt at home around this group and it made everything run so smoothly.

Katie and Aaron share a kind of authentic, timeless love that you rarely see in young couples.  It seems like they’ve been together forever and deeply understand each other.  The ceremony was gorgeous.  Everyone in their wedding party brought out something special in Katie and Aaron and we had such a good time taking portraits with everyone!  Although Katie may seem shy at first, I was able to get a glimpse of her true personality while taking pictures of her and Aaron just before the reception.  As the sun set over the water they made each other smile and laugh uncontrollably.  And as they did, I could see them for who they were.  And I was so thankful to have been a part of this day and to have met these wonderful people.  I love my job!

Love, Faith and Anticipation.  From the moment we arrived at the church we felt it.  Heather was not the only member of the family to be married in this church.  Her mother and sister had both gotten married in the very same place.  That’s a kind of tradition you don’t see very often, and we could feel the significance of this day.  Heather’s vintage inspired wedding dress was incredibly elegant and she wore it effortlessly.  Michael was looking very sharp as well.  They chose to wait until the ceremony to see each other and we could feel the excitement and anticipation.  They were surrounded by the love and strength of family and friends as they joined each other in faith.  It was a beautiful ceremony to witness.  These two were such a pleasure to work with and are so lucky to have found each other.
