We are going to backpack through Europe! FOR A MONTH!
What:
Dave and I are taking a month trip through Europe. As most of you know already I love traveling. It has been far too long since I’ve been out of the country. The last time I was out of the US was back in high school! Dave and I will be taking our first international trip to not just 1 country but 4! (or maybe even more)
Who:
Dave and Heather (we need an updated photo, anyone in Europe?)
In Amelie style:
Dave likes: 1. Beer 2. Mountains 3. Zmrzlina (Ice Cream)
Heather likes: 1. Wine 2. Cities 3. Meggy Leves (Cherry Soup)
Where:
Boston, MA – Edelsfeld, Germany – Pilsen, Czech Republic – Prague, Czech Republic – Budapest, Hungary – Naples, Italy – Salerno, Italy – Rome, Italy
There will be at least a few more stops on the way, we just are quite sure where yet. We will be visiting with family for a graduation (congratulations!) while in Boston. In Edelsfeld we will be hanging out with the super cool Matt and Rachel wandering around Bavaria with them. Dave and I then head over to the Czech Republic in search of some amazing tasty beer in Pilsen then off to Prague to try the zmrzlina. We are still contemplating Viennia but might skip this city in order to spend more time in either Prague or Hungary. We then travel to Budapest, Hungary to eat Meggy Leves and get massages at the Roman Baths. Out of Budapest we fly to Naples, Italy, the birthplace of pizza where we will meet up with our friends Pete and Leslie who live off the coast. After all of those fun times we end our stay in Rome where we will travel to the Vatican City to see the Pope (I got tickets!).
When:
May 15th – June 11th
Have you been to any of these countries? What was your favorite thing to do/see/eat?

I’m jealous! Have a great time, take lots of pictures!

sounds awesome Heather! We have been to Italy. We went to Rome, Florence, Pisa, Tuscany, and Venice for our honeymoon in May 2007 and it was amazing. I actually loved Rome the best and the Vatican is AMAZING! We did the vatican tour because it really shows and explains a lot…do the vatican gardens if you can too…just stunning. We went in May too and the weather is pretty nice. It was a little chilly at time (enough for a light jacket) but beautiful 90% of the time. The Colloseum and gardens behind/side of it are amazing, we did a walking tour of that and got so many great photos.
You are gonna have such an ammmazing time (i used that word a lot…sorry but I cant help it)..:)

Amanda – Do you have any recommendations for places to stay or eat while we are there? Anything that you did that we should not miss?

Oh Heather!! I’m so jealous, this sounds like it will be simply an amazing time. I’m jealous you get to see Rachel and Matt. Germany is just gorgeous. Don’t forget to visit the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
